The Owner-Builder Permit course is approved by the Office of Fair Trading, and is appropriate for owner-builders who are carrying out work over the value of $12,000.  As a requirement by law, the owner-builder must complete an approved course of study before being issued this permit.  You will receive your course material either by mail or online, and can start and finish the course when it suits you. It is estimated that on average it takes about 8 hours to complete the course material and assessment questionnaire.
