As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), Macquarie Community College runs accredited English courses on a part time basis. The Board of Adult & Community Education (BACE) accredits our courses providing participants with a nationally recognised qualification. Accredited courses have Modules taught from two certificates:
1. Certificate of Spoken and Written English
2. Certificate in General English for Adults

These courses are for people from a non-English speaking background and you will be required to have a short interview with some reading and a writing assessment test to make sure you are placed in the best course for you level of ability.

Duration
The modules take between 60 and 90 hours to complete, depending on the course. There are three levels of English taught and the Modules can run for two, three or four terms. You can gain a Statement of Attainment after successfully completing two or three Learning Outcomes.

Clients can enrol in a number of modules at the same time. Permanent residents simply pay an administration fee and need to show their passport as proof of residency. Temporary residents and visitors would pay the full fee for the period of study undertaken.

Business English Training
Certificate or general courses can be the basis of English courses undertaken at the workplace during office hours. Employers can choose to tailor these to suit their needs in:
· pronunciation courses for customer service;
· business etiquette for meetings, teamwork and negotiation;
· telephone and reception skills;
· business writing in memos, emails, faxes, formal letters and reports.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Participants may apply for recognition of recently completed English language courses so that they do not require further placement tests. An original Certificate or Statement of Attainment needs to be sighted.
