Course Outline

In this course you will learn how to:

• be an effective workplace leader in a diverse work environment;

• manage Work, Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures;
• assist your team to prioritise duties.

Course Outcome

By the end of this course you will have an understanding of and have developed skills to enable you to provide high level administrative management and leadership to your organisation.
You will have an understanding and be able to manage Work, Health and Safety Policies in your workplace.
You will become a valuable workplace leader through your improved skills and knowledge in various management and leadership disciplines.

At the end of the course, you will be issued a Certificate in BSB42015 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management where competency has been achieved>.

Prerequisite: Essential

An appropriate level of language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills are required to enrol in this course. Macquarie Community College may conduct an LLN assessment as part of the pre enrolment process.

Prerequisite: Desirable

As per the course training package, the desirable prerequisites are:

• Language, literacy and numeracy skills that allow you to read and interpret information and prepare documents at an intermediate level.
• Previous study of a qualification at Certificate III or above and experience in the workplace will assist with understanding of concepts.

Fees and Government Subsidy Opportunities

Smart and Skilled is a reform of the NSW Vocational Education and Training (VET) system. It’s helping people in NSW get the skills they need to find a job and advance their careers.

Smart and Skilled provides eligible students with:

• An entitlement to government-subsidised training up to and including Certificate III.
• Government funding for higher-level courses (Certificate IV and above) in targeted priority areas.

This training is subsidised by the NSW Government, and as a result your fee is determined through Training Services NSW formal eligibility criteria. This criteria will determine your exact fee. Students who meet additional specified criteria, may be eligible for a concession fee or a fee exemption. In claiming the concession or exemption students will be required to supply the required evidence to support the claim in accord with the requirements of Smart and Skilled eligibility.

Students who are eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and/or credit transfer from previous study will have their fee adjusted to reflect this. The amended fee will be confirmed by Training Services NSW and will be reflected in the adjusted Student Fee Statement.

Payment Plans are available through Macquarie Community College for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications. 10% deposit OR $40 (whichever is greater) required upon enrolment followed by Interest-free payment plan. Payment methods: EFTPOS, Direct Deposit, Direct Debit, Visa or MasterCard.

Study Load

The completion time for the BSB42015 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management varies according to the educational background and any relevant work experience of the student.

Course takes approximately 6-12 months. The student will be expected to complete approximately 30 hours of study in class and at home per week, full time or the equivalent part time.

Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning

Credit transfer (CT) is defined in the AQF as follows:

• Credit transfer is a process that provides students with agreed and consistent credit outcomes for components of a qualification based on identified equivalence in content and learning outcomes between matched qualifications.

Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is defined in the AQF as follows:

• Recognition of prior learning is an assessment process that involves assessment of an individual’s relevant prior learning (including formal, informal and non-formal learning) to determine the credit outcomes of an individual application for credit.

This is underpinned by the AQF definition of credit as follows:

• Credit is the value assigned for the recognition of equivalence in content and learning outcomes between different types of learning and/or qualifications.
• Credit reduces the amount of learning required to achieve a qualification and may be through credit transfer, articulation, recognition of prior learning or advanced standing.

How You Will Be Assessed

Assessment (including recognition of prior learning) must:

• meet the requirements of the relevant training package or accredited course;
• be conducted in accordance with the principles of assessment and the rules of evidence, and
• meet workplace and, where relevant, regulatory requirements.

For this course, assessments will involve the following:

• Written and Verbal Questioning; and
• Practical demonstrations.

Assessments that are written and practical and may take place in:

• the classroom environment;
• the workplace; or
• by submission of required documentation depending on your mode of delivery.
