Become a Digital Mentor – Sydney Course

Are your friends or family members currently learning new digital skills? Be their biggest advocate by demonstrating how the internet can be meaningful for them. Digital literacy is an essential skill, no matter what your age. But more than 2.5million Australians are still not online.

We will teach you how to teach someone else digital skills and competency. You will learn how to become a Digital Mentor and make a BIG difference in someone else’s life!

Macquarie Community College is committed to closing the digital divide. That’s why we are network partners with ‘Be Connected’, an Australian Government initiative aimed at increasing the confidence, skills and online safety of older Australians in using digital technology.

This FREE 1 day course, developed by the Good Things Foundation, will train you to become a Digital Mentor. The course will give you tools to help you engage and assist people with little or no digital competence.

We will help you to develop the skills and confidence you need to support people on a one-to-one basis, as well as helping small groups. By the end of the course, you will be able to help support people through their first steps in using computers and the internet, and improve their digital skills. You’ll learn about the language and techniques needed to support someone, and the possible barriers that people who are new to the internet can experience.

If you’re part of an organisation whose members could benefit from improved digital literacy, talk to us about how to access support and funding through Be Connected Grant Program by calling 1300 845 888.
