An Altered Book is a form of mixed media artwork where you use an existing book and alter it to make it into an object of art. You can create an Altered Book by changing its appearance and meaning by using a variety of different paints, stamps, cutting techniques, craft and more. The pages of the book are seen as a canvas where you can unleash your inner artist!

Altered Books is a relaxing and therapeutic art project that is a great way to begin your journey into water colours, pastels, acrylic painting as well as incorporating many shared craft ideas.

You can use an old or a new book – any book is fine to use! You can use the theme of the book to work with or something entirely different, it’s an open book so to speak!

Lose yourself by exploring your creative juices, relaxing and making new friends. Each person will walk away with a one of a kind Altered Book that is also great as a unique gift idea!
