Basic Drawing in One Day – Sydney Course

This one day workshop will introduce you to the basic principles of drawing. Throughout the workshop, you will learn techniques from still life to simple landscapes. In an easy step-by-step program, learn how to see your subjects correctly and learn the techniques to portray them on paper.

This course is suitable for beginners and those wishing to refresh their drawing skills.

Course Outline

This course introduces you to the various tools used in drawing, leading into a morning of simple exercises drawing from life, followed by some longer studies in the afternoon session.

Topics Include:

  • Understanding form
  • Perspective
  • Light and shade
  • Still life
  • Landscapes

Course Outcome

At the end of this one day workshop, you will have learnt the basic elements of capturing the world around you in your drawings.

What to Bring

  • A sketchbook or drawing paper: cartridge- A3 is a good size
  • A range of graphite pencils, eg: HB, 2B, 3B, 6B.
  • A ruler, sharpener, eraser
  • Your own lunch, drink and refreshments

Prerequisite: Desirable

This course assumes no prior knowledge or experience, but is also useful for those wishing to refresh their drawing skills.

Delivery Mode

The class is delivered in a well lit classroom using flat desks to work on.
