Book Club – Sydney Course

Do you love reading? The Book Club is a great opportunity for you to get together with like-minded readers. Over the 4 sessions, you can read and discuss the novels of one author, Ruth Park.

New Zealand-born author Ruth Park lived most of her adult life in Australia. She catapulted into fame when she won the inaugural Sydney Morning Herald Literary Competition in 1946, with her novel The Harp in the South. This book told the story of an Irish family living in the Surry Hills slums of Sydney. Filled with finely-drawn and realistic yet engaging characters, this much-loved story has never been out of print.

Ruth Park was also well-loved for her books for both adults and children, including the Muddle-headed Wombat series and Playing Beattie Bow.

In this book club we will read and discuss the trilogy about the Darcy family: The Harp in the South, Poor Man’s Orange and Missus.

Macquarie Community College operates from a range of venues across North and Western Sydney. We have campuses in Carlingford, Chatswood, Mt Druitt, Richmond and many more. Enrol today or enquire now!
