Bushwalk 1 – Lyrebird Gully to Crosslands – Sunday 19th April, 2020 – Sydney Course

Escape to the great outdoors with our resident bushwalking guide, Greg Williams, who has been leading bushwalks around Sydney for over 33 years. You can book each bushwalk individually or book the 'Bushwalking – Sunday Adventure Bushwalks Package' which includes all four bushwalks at a discounted price.

Bushwalk 1 – Lyrebird Gully. Today’s journey will take us along the Lyrebird track deep into the valleys of the Berowra Bushland Park. The gully often comes alive after rain with its many cascading brooks and waterfalls. As you descend you will come across massive sandstone rock overhangs while deeper into the valley you will enter a lush green and sometimes wet environment of rainforest. Here, the many coachwood trees grow tall as they try to reach through the canopy for sunshine. As you leave the gully you enter the still water of Calna Creek which eventually opens to a river flat of saltmarsh. The walk now heads south while it undulates around the shoreline under a canopy of angophora trees. Shortly afterwards, we reach Crosslands where you will find an open field of grass with its own amenities and a fresh water tap should you wish to top up your water supplies for the journey back out of the valley.

All bushwalks have morning tea provided with tea, coffee and delicious chocolate treats available.

Macquarie Community College also operates from a range of venues across North and Western Sydney. We have campuses in Carlingford, Chatswood, Ryde, Mt Druitt, Richmond and many more. Enrol online today or call us to have a chat about your options.
