Bushwalk 4 – Beyond Milyerra – Sunday 3 December

Bushwalk 4 - This bushwalks includes a journey to a magnificent lookout on an isolated windswept mountain where you will find sweeping views of the countryside and waterways below. This is an area rarely visited by bushwalkers due to its remoteness from the main walking routes. On this trek, you will find some grand sandstone architecture, a mangrove hideaway and a waterfall cascading into the valley below. For those with a keen eye, there are a number of Aboriginal engravings that you will find along the way.

Important Information

  • This event includes an optional after walk Christmas celebration at Staples Lookout. Details can be found in our Course Information Guide.
  • Rating: Moderate – challenging (may include some short steep climbs and off track negotiation)
  • Distance: 10km
  • Meeting Place: Meet at Staples Lookout, Woy Woy Road, Brisbane Waters National Park
  • Driving Instructions: Allow minimum 50 minutes travel time from Macquarie Park.
  • Special Note: From Macquarie Park, drive north on Lane Cove Rd for 3.7km, veer left onto Pacific Hwy then drive 5.4km. Turn right onto M1 Motorway then drive approx. 43km exiting at Kariong/Woy Woy exit. Continue on Central Coast Hwy for 2.4km then turn right onto Woy Woy Road. Drive 4.9km to meeting place.

Event Amendments

  • Bushwalks can sometimes be rescheduled to an alternative location due to park closures, bushfires, flooding, and for other unforeseen circumstances.
  • Bushwalk amendments are usually sent out by e-mail or by phone on the Friday/Saturday preceding the walk. To ensure you are properly informed of any changes, please be sure to pass on your e-mail address and mobile phone number to the Event Co-ordinator prior to the Thursday of your first walk.

Operational Conditions and Postponements

  • We reserve the right to alter or postpone the event/s or part thereof due to extremes of weather or changes to operational conditions such as road closures, bushfires or conditions beyond our usual control. Every effort will be made to keep to the itinerary and advertised departure times, but no guarantee can be made and no compensation shall be made for failure to meet those times.
  • Our events take place in all but exceptional weather conditions. Conditions such as mist, fog showers, rain and windy conditions do not usually affect the event operation. However, if the weather is deemed to be extreme, the event/s will be postponed to another date. Pre-paid event fees will be credited to the new date or a future event.
