Bushwalk 2 - Beyond Castle Cove (Part 2)- Sydney Course
Escape to the great outdoors with our resident bushwalking guide, Greg Williams, who has been leading bushwalks around Sydney for over 33 years. You can book each bushwalk individually or book the 'Bushwalking - Sunday Adventure Bushwalks Package' which includes all four bushwalks at a discounted price.
If you loved our previous Beyond Castle Cove, then you’ll love our part two of the series which brings you in from the Middle Harbour. Our journey passes through some of Sydney’s most untouched bushland areas, consisting of open woodland and ridge-top heathland with some partial views of Bantry Bay. The reserve’s original purpose was to act as a buffer zone for the explosives kept in Bantry Bay. The reserve contains some of the largest and most intact areas of continuous and complex wildlife habitat in the Willoughby area. The vulnerable Red-crowned Toadlet exists in small communities in drainage areas of Explosives Reserve. Swamp Wallaby and Long-nosed Bandicoot were first recorded here around 2002. There are other large terrestrial mammals as well as a large number of woodland bird species occurring in this reserve. The vulnerable Powerful Owl is known to roost in the woodland and forest areas. The reserve contains some of the last successful breeding sites for the White-bellied Sea Eagle in the Sydney Harbour area.
All bushwalks have morning tea provided with tea, coffee and delicious chocolate treats available.
A Course Information Guide regarding the bushwalk will be provided beforehand. Please consult the Course Information Guide prior to the walk for comprehensive information on meeting places, start times, travel directions and more.
