Calligraphy Celtic Art - Mini Mandalas - Sydney Course
This online Calligraphy Celtic Art - Mandalas course will take you step-by-step through the techniques of drawing Celtic patterns within a circle. You will create larger mandala designs layered with Celtic patterns such as Celtic knots, spirals and key patterns. All these Celtic patterns are drawn using proven formulas that are easy to follow. You will also learn painting techniques and different ways of applying colour to complete your designs.
This course is great for beginners and continuing students. No prior calligraphy or drawing experience is needed. This is a fun and interactive class where you will see your patterns come to life!

Course Outline
In this course you will learn:
- How to draw Celtic knots.
- How to draw spiral designs with a single coil, double coil, triple coil & quadruple coil.
- How to draw 5 unit key patterns.
- How to combine Celtic knots, spiral designs and key patterns into one mandala design.
- How to outline and tidy your designs.
- How to apply colour to Celtic mandala patterns..
Course Outcome
At the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
- Draw Celtic knots patterns in a circle.
- Draw spiral designs with a single coil, double coil, triple coil & quadruple coil into a circle.
- Draw 5 unit key patterns in a circle.
- Combine Celtic knots, spiral designs and key patterns into one mandala design.
- Outline and tidy your designs.
- Apply colour to Celtic mandala patterns.
- Create your own Celtic mandala artworks.
What to Bring
- 2B mechanical / pacer pencil
- Ruler, 30cm or longer
- Eraser
- Compass
- Empty jar, for rinse water
- Rag, soft & absorbent like t-shirt fabric
- Colour media (what you have or prefer to use) - colour pencils; pigment markers; paints – watercolours or watercolour gouache, acrylics
