Celtic Art originated from the Celts in Europe and is a decorative artform which traditionally involves the use of spirals, geometric shapes, knots and repetitive patterns.

In this Calligraphy course, you will learn how to create Celtic Art using Spirals and Key Patterns are an essential element of design you need to begin creating your own Celtic Art. Key patterns are most famously seen in ancient manuscripts such as The Book of Kells & The Lindisfarne Gospels. Your artwork will combine both Celtic Spiral Patterns and Key Patterns into a unique and beautiful layered design.

You will be taken step-by-step through the techniques of drawing these patterns using a simple proven method that will have you creating true Celtic spiral patterns in double and triple coils and step patterns in borders and large shapes. To complete your drawings, we will be outlining them and exploring various ways of using colour with your favourite media.
