Calligraphy Introduction and Decorated Letter Workshop – Sydney Course

This introduction to calligraphy is a great introduction to the world of calligraphy! We will explain the language and techniques used in the practice of hand lettering using a chised edge nib. You will need this to get the most out of the next course ‘Uncial Calligraphy for Beginners’.

During the workshop, you will complete a small project using the tutor’s own designs of decorated Celtic initials. These illuminated Celtic letters make unique, colourful greeting cards, a gift framed for someone special, or as an embellishment to your scrapbooking.

By the end of the workshop, you will know different calligraphy terminologies, pen angle techniques needed for Uncial calligraphy, how to use a chisel edge nib and ink to create consistent thick and thin lines, how to trace decorative letters and more!

Macquarie Community College operates from a range of venues across North and Western Sydney. We have campuses in Blacktown, Carlingford, Chatswood, Mt Druitt, Richmond and Ryde. Enrol today or enquire now!
