Ceramic Art Painting – Introduction – Sydney Course

This is a one-off, all- inclusive 3 hour ceramic art painting class, where you will learn to draw and paint a dinner size plate or its equivalent. In this course, you will be guided with drawing and designing your dinner plate, paint with underglazes and learn some basic techniques used in Ceramic Art. This class is like an art class in ceramics. Art pieces can be used every day. Your finished artwork will be fired and glazed at Tennyson Studio.

Course Outline

In this course you will learn:

  • How to clean a greenware piece
  • How to set out and draw designs with pencil on your piece
  • How to use underglazes to paint your piece
  • Basic brush techniques with blending
  • How to outline in black to complete your works of art
  • How to use underglazes to paint your piece
  • You can bring your own design and we can help you to put it together
  • All paints and brushes included for the class
  • Finished works can be collected 2 weeks after completion of course from Tennyson Studio
  • All glazing and firing is done at Tennyson Studio

Course Outcome

  • On completion of this course, you can join our beginners course - where you will learn more basic ceramic painting techniques

  • All paints and brushes included for the class

Important Information

* All completed ceramic artwork pieces are functional – and can be used safely in a dishwasher and microwave

Prerequisite: Desirable

  • This level is for the complete beginner and assumes no prior knowledge of painting or drawing
  • It is also suitable for those who have been away from this art form and would like a refresher
