Writing a Crime Thriller – Sydney Course

This course provides you with the opportunity to learn how to write the crime or thriller novel you have always wanted to write! Maybe you have already written some words or have an amazing idea for a story that’s just waiting to be written. Or maybe you want to write a page-turner that readers can’t put down.
This course will teach you all the skills to write a fast-paced drama/thriller that will enthrall your audience. By the end of the course, you will understand how to develop a compelling protagonist, with an action paced drama using red herrings, plot twists, cliffhangers and more.
Online learning for this course is at scheduled class times and sessions. It could include:
- Livestream video classes online;
- Interaction with your tutor and other students during livestream video sessions;
- Group exercises, group discussion, reading dialogue, written exercises, and games to practice new learned skills in an enjoyable way.

Course Outcome
By the completion of this Writing a Crime Thriller workshop, you will:
- Understand the different types of crime fiction and thrillers
- Understand basic aspects of a detective story and a classic thriller
- Undertake writing exercises to discover your story
- Know how to write characters, conflict, setting & dialogue
- Understand how to create a sense of story
- Write an action paced drama
- Manage pace and tone as well as building suspense
