Crochet – Toys – Sydney Course
Learn how to make your own unique crochet toys in this fun and interactive course. You will learn how to understand and follow commonly used crochet toy instructions, key crochet techniques, basic crochet stitches, different types of yarn and hooks, final assembly and great tips and tricks.
By the end of this course, you will have created your very own Christmas Snowman to take home or give as a gift.

This course is designed for beginners and assumes no prior knowledge of the craft. It is also suitable for those who have some knowledge and experience of crochet and would like to revise and further their skills.

Course Outline
Topics include:
- Knowing your yarn (cotton, wool, acrylic etc) & knowing crochet hooks and sizes
- Learn how to hold the crochet hook and yarn
- What is tension when creating fabric
- Understanding how to start a chain in crochet
- Learning the basic crochet stiches with symbols (slip stich, single crochet)
- Learn how to crochet in the round
- Learn increase and decrease
- Learn Techniques specific to toy making
- Ideas for making simple gifts and small projects
- Finishing off your piece
Course Outcome
At the end of the course, students will be become confident in the following:
- How to hold the crochet hook and yarn
- How to start a chain, single crochet, slip stich
- How to crochet toys
- Assembly techniques
- Understanding the symbols used on patterns
- How to read simple patterns
- Applying crochet skills and techniques on a new project
