Dressmaking Mentoring Workshop – for HSC students – Sydney Course

This Dressmaking Mentoring Workshop is an introductory course which will assist students on what is required for major dressmaking works for the HSC – directed at Years 10, 11 and 12 students. Students will receive information on major works selection. Time and skill level required to achieve their chosen project. The student’s skills will be evaluated and a program will be tailored for each student.

Course Outline

In this course you will learn:

  • Principles and elements of good design
  • Choice and source of fabrics
  • Garment construction techniques
  • Altering techniques for a purchased pattern
  • Fashion illustration using body templates
  • Mood boards and fashion communication
  • Fabric embellishments
  • Garment costing

Course Outcome

The ability to confidently complete a major work project for the HSC.

* Students will be given a time and skill level required to achieve their chosen project
  • Information sheet provided on enrolment. Some sewing equipment is available for purchase at the college.

Prerequisite: Desirable

  • Years 10, 11 & 12 students
  • No prior knowledge required

Delivery Mode

The course is delivered in a workroom with sewing machines and overlockers provided.
