Practical Photography Workshop in the field and on location at the historical Australiana Pioneer Village, Wilberforce – Western Sydney. Learn practical tips on getting the most out of your camera by using the Camera Controls. Apply the learned skills to the most popular and widely photographed subjects – People and Places. Lighting, Exposure and Composition - including the Panoramic Landscape, are just some of the topics which will be covered.

Course Outline

This is a practical hands-on Photography Workshop in the field.

In this course you will learn:-

  • How to Use the camera controls beyond the AUTO settings
  • Lighting awareness, types of available and enhanced lighting
  • Creative use of Exposure, using Shutter Speeds and Aperture for different pictorial effects
  • The right lens for the right subject
  • Controlling DOF, (Depth of Filed) for portraits and landscapes
  • Shooting and composing for Panoramas
  • Creating Portraits as opposed to selfies
  • Imroving compositon, using basic techniques for any subject

Course Outcome

At the end of the course, you will progress from shooting happy snaps, to consistent Creative Original Photographs, based on the confidence acquired in this practical application of tried and tested Photographic Principles.

What to Bring

  • Your Digital Camera, preferably a DSLR, ( Digital Single Lense Reflex) with manual override control capability, but “point and shoot” cameras can still be used for improving Composition and learning Lighting Awareness.
  • A Tripod (if available)
  • Supplementary Lenses (if available)
  • Lunch, drink, refreshments

Important Information

  • There is an entrance/parking fee of $5.00 per car to the venue
  • Expect to be there for 5+ hours, so bring own lunch and water – or can be purchased on site

Prerequisite: Essential

  • This course assumes that you are proficient in using your own camera, and is not intended for anyone wishing to learn how to use their new equipment
  • It is designed for those who wish to take their photography to the next level – by taking Creative Control
