Seniors Community Group - Sydney Course

Come along to our free Seniors Community Group classes. You’ll have lots of fun, meet new friends, learn new skills in computing, arts and craft and explore interesting options to get engaged in your own community!

Each week, we will cover a new skill or interest, including Computer Basics, Social Media Basics, How to Stay Safe Online, Acrylic Pouring, How to Make Altered Books and Exploring Interests in the Community.

Course Outline

During the course, we will cover different topics each week:

  • Computer Basics - learn how to use a computer, email and some computer programs
  • Social Media Basics - learn about social media, how to set up your own social media account and how to create a post
  • How to Stay Safe Online - learn about the importance of staying safe online and what to be aware of when purchasing online, as well as when setting up accounts and passwords
  • Acrylic Pouring - learn a variety of acrylic pouring techniques to create your own unique masterpiece on canvas to take home
  • How to Make Altered Books - create your own mixed media art project using old books and a variety of craft materials
  • Explore Interests in the Community - learn how to find different activities that are happening in your local community and how to get involved

Course Outcome

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Have a basic understanding on how to use a computer and social media and stay safe online
  • Create your own acrylic pouring artwork
  • Make your own Altered Book
  • Know about different options available in the community based on your own interests
