Be Connected – Zoom Fundamentals - Sydney Course

With COVID-19 sending us indoors, communicating with others using online tools has become more important now than ever. Zoom is one of the world’s most widely-used video conferencing services.

The Zoom platform allows users to see and talk to people from anywhere in the world in real time.

In this course we show you, step-by-step, how to set yourself up on Zoom and start connecting with friends safely. You will also learn basic functions, how to create a Zoom account, how to join a meeting, how to chat, how to use reactions, mute, change your name and more. We will also talk to you about the advantages of setting up multiple email accounts and how to manage multiple accounts.

Course Outline

In this course we show you, step-by-step, how to set yourself up on Zoom and start connecting with friends safely.

In this workshop, you will learn:

  • What is Zoom?
  • What you need to use Zoom?
  • Creating a Zoom Account
  • Protecting your privacy when using Zoom
  • Customising Zoom to suit you
  • Using Zoom to connect with others
  • Sharing your Screen
  • How to set up and manage multiple email accounts and the scenarios when that would be beneficial

Course Outcome

By the end of the course you will know:

  • How you can protect your privacy when using Zoom
  • How much it costs to use Zoom
  • What time limits there are on your Zoom meeting
  • What devices you can use to join a Zoom meeting
  • Where is the safest place to download the Zoom app
  • The benefits of having multiple email accounts

What to Bring

You will need:

  • Notepad
  • Pen
  • Computers are available for you to use. However. you can also bring your own laptop, Android tablet or iPad if you wish to learn on your own device.

Prerequisite: Desirable

  • No previous knowledge required

  • Workshop is delivered in a computer room – involving a combination of teacher demonstration and practical work using Windows 10 Personal Computers
