Yoga and Meditation – Sydney Course

Would you like to improve your strength, flexibility and focus? Do you want to unwind and relax? Enjoy a gentle, meditative yoga class that includes postures, breathing techniques (pranayama), and relaxation and meditation practices, and discover the benefits to your physical and mental health from a regular yoga class.

Course Outline

This course covers:

  • Dynamic and static postures, and sequences (asanas)
  • Breathing techniques (pranayama)
  • Guided relaxation and meditation practices

Course Outcome

  • Over the eight weeks of the course, students will experience techniques that will improve physical and mental fitness, including strength, flexibility and endurance.
  • Students will also learn how to refine the yoga techniques experienced to suit their current level of fitness, and develop greater awareness of their body and mind.

What to Bring

  • Yoga or fitness mat
  • Towel or blanket for padding or warmth
  • Water
  • Something warm to cover yourself during relaxation and meditation. Your body temperature will drop as you start to relax.
  • Loose, comfortable clothing

Important Information

  • New students will be required to complete a general health questionnaire at their first class. If you have a pre-existing health condition, please consult a qualified health professional before participating.

Prerequisite: Desirable

  • No prior experience of yoga or meditation is necessary

Delivery Mode

  • This is an informal and friendly instructor-led class.
  • It includes a mixture of verbal instruction and visual demonstration, designed to allow students to develop a greater awareness of their bodies and minds.
  • Students' health status, strength, flexibility, fitness and general abilities are considered – and alternative postures are suggested accordingly.
  • A minimum of 30 minutes in each class is dedicated to relaxation and meditation practices.
