Course outline

What is Yoga?

  • Yoga is a scientific fitness system that uses gentle yet dynamic postures and various breathing and relaxation techniques to achieve balance in the body. It is probably the most widely recognised Hatha yoga technique in the world.
  • BKS iyengar is responsible for much of the modern understanding of hatha yoga as well as the development and use of yoga props such as bolsters, blankets, belts and blocks as an aid and support for students.
  • This method of teaching pays particularly close attention to placement and alignment of the body and the props can assist precision and extension in the postures.
Topics include:
  • Outline of yoga postures and relaxation techniques
  • Principles of Iyengar style of yoga
  • Health benefits

Course outcome

  • Students will become familiar with a series of yoga poses and relaxation techniques to assist with relief from pain, discomfort, stress and anxiety in the body.
  • Students will experience the unique experience of the Iyengar style of yoga.

Entry requirements

This level is for the complete beginner and assumes no prior knowledge. It will also suit students with some basic experience.

  • A yoga mat, blanket and cool drink
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing

How to Enrol

Step 1

Anyone 18 years or older may enrol into our non-accredited short courses by: • choosing the course you are interested in and; • finding a day and time that is suitable.

Step 2

After selecting your course and class. click ‘’Enrol Now’’ and enter your details. • You will be asked to verify your email through a secure link sent to your email address. • Once you have returned to the enrolment page you will proceed through the secure checkout and payment process. • Alternatively, you can call customer service on 1300 845 888. Step 3

Once your enrolment has been processed, you will receive the following emails: • Enrolment confirmation: you will receive this immediately after your enrolment has been processed. Please check and read your Terms and conditions. • Tax invoice: the payer of your enrolment will receive this immediately after your enrolment has been processed. • Course reminder: you will receive a reminder the day prior to your class commencement. • Zoom link (for remote zoom classes only): you will receive a Zoom link and password the day prior to class commencement. If your course has multiple sessions, use the same link and password to access each session.
