In this American BBQ Fundamentals class you will learn all about American Barbeque techniques that will allow you to produce amazing meals that impress your friends and family.

Learn about a range of different meats and techniques to produce meals ranging from the low and slow smoked meats like Brisket that you can work on all weekend through to some very quick and tasty options that can be done on a weeknight.

Explore a variety of rubs and seasonings, and master the art of preparing assorted beef, pork, and chicken cuts for smoking and cooking. Additionally, acquire the skills to guarantee that your slow-cooked meats possess the rich flavors and tenderness that are highly sought after in this style of culinary preparation.

You’ll also receive valuable insights on setting up a home BBQ or diving into the world of competitive barbecuing – a word of caution, it can be quite addictive!

In this course you will learn:

  • All about meat – the different cuts for various occasions, tastes and budgets
  • How to select or make a range of rubs and seasonings
  • Smoking techniques
  • Fuels and how to control temperature to cook from the low and slow smoked meats to hot and fast grilling
  • The tools you need for various BBQ meats
  • How to make sauces and accompaniments to you BBQ meats

  • Select a range of meats that are appropriate for various types of BBQ’s
  • Make and apply rubs and seasonings to a range of meat
  • Smoke meats to enhance the flavours
  • Understand the temperature and times required for fast and very slow cooked meats

Anyone 18 years or older may enrol into our non-accredited short courses by: • choosing the course you are interested in and; • finding a day and time that is suitable.

Step 2

Step 3

Once your enrolment has been processed, you will receive the following emails: • Enrolment confirmation: you will receive this immediately after your enrolment has been processed.
