Chinese Mandarin is the most widely spoken language in the world. Learn a foreign language that over 1 billion people speak!

This Chinese Mandarin – Intermediate course follows on from the Chinese Mandarin – Beginners course. This course assumes you have completed at least two terms of recent study in the Chinese Mandarin – Beginners course or have equivalent vocabulary and skills. The class concentrates on speaking and listening skills. It is suitable if you intend to travel, if you need to extend your business networks, or if you simply wish to communicate more effectively with families and friends.

Topics covered include asking about someone’s occupation, talking about family, talking about your work or studies, asking the time, making appointments, buying something and more.

By the end of the course, you will be able to understand and respond in a simple conversation. You will also be able to form simple, appropriate, comprehensible statements and questions/answers on a given topic.

Online learning for this course is at scheduled class times and sessions. It could include:

  • Livestream video classes online;
  • Interaction with your tutor and other students during livestream video sessions;
  • Group exercises, group discussion, reading dialogue, written exercises, and games to practice new learned skills in an enjoyable way.

Please note: You will need access to the internet and a smartphone, tablet, computer or laptop in order to participate in the livestream video classes.

Face-to-face classes may resume at one of our campuses before the end of the course, depending on discussions between the tutor and students as well as the Government’s recommendations at the time, including appropriate social distancing measures, hand washing and other hygiene protocols.
