Conducting Better Online Meetings - Sydney Course

The pandemic has turbocharged the use of online meetings, not just for business but for social and family purposes too. Some traditional meeting principles still apply but others may need to be modified, depending on the purpose and participants of your meeting.

During the course, we will cover many aspects that are important for conducting better online meetings including logistics, tools and protocols, as well as the critical human elements.

Each student will gain a greater understanding of the dynamics of an online meeting and gain greater confidence in their role as presenter, leader or participant.

Course Outline

In this workshop we will cover:

  • Basic considerations: o What’s the same? What’s different? o Future of online meetings post Covid? o Business v social meetings

  • Logistical considerations: o Online platforms o Video and/or audio o Punctuality and agendas

  • Conduct: o Different roles o Protocols o Opening & closing

  • Tools: o Basic functionality o Engagement and interaction o Visual aspects

  • Personal dimension: o Checking in o Inclusion

Course Outcome

By the end of the workshop you will have learned how to plan and conduct a successful online meeting. You will have been introduced to a range of tools and protocols to help you. You will have gained confidence in your ability to engage with others remotely.

Prerequisite

  • No prior knowledge or experience is required, other than basic PC/laptop functionality.
  • Some familiarity with using online platforms is desirable.

Delivery Mode

The class is delivered online. The emphasis is on practical application so there will be an expectation we will all trial certain tools. Interaction is essential to ensure that the class meets the students’ objectives.

Online learning for this course is at scheduled class times and sessions. It could include:

  • Interaction with your tutor and other students during livestream video sessions.
