Flower Arrangement – Introduction – Sydney Course

If you are passionate about flowers and want to create beauty with flowers, then you will love this three week Flower Arrangement for Beginners course. Learn about and enjoy the simple beauty of seasonal blooms and produce designs each week that can be used for home, work or as a gift to someone special. You will explore the fundamentals of floristry and stimulate your inner creativity using contemporary as well as vintage inspired designs.

This course will teach you flower arranging using a different range of containers and techniques each week. You will learn about the elements of design and colour combined with creativity using floristry technical skills.

In addition, you will learn how to take care of your fresh flowers to get the longest life out of them, how to wrap a fruit hamper and baby gift hamper and many more gift ideas. You will leave each class blooming with inspiration.

In each session, the students make at least 1 flower arrangement and the trainer will demonstrate other flower arrangements as well as wrapping techniques.

This is a beginner’s flower arrangement course suitable for all flower lovers.

Course Outline

In this course you will learn:

  • Hand-held posy for a vase;
  • Flower box arrangement;
  • Fresh flower hand-tied bouquet;
  • Ceramic pot or basket arrangement;
  • Wired button hole (eg for wedding corsages);
  • Modern frontal arrangement in a bowl or box;
  • Themed table centre piece;
  • Floral gift wrapping;
  • Seasonal floral creations;
  • Floral philosophy, such as colour and texture; and
  • Tips and techniques such as wiring, parafilming and cut flower care.

By the end of the course you will know:

  • How to care for fresh flowers
  • How to tie a florist bow
  • How to wire fresh flowers
  • Wrapping techniques and presentation
  • How to arrange flowers in different containers, using different techniques
  • The equipment used in floristry
  • Elements of arrangement and colour coordination
  • How to combine creativity with floristry technical skills

What to Bring

  • Pen and note pad
  • Secateurs or florist scissors
  • Rose strippers
  • $25 for the first lesson, payable to tutor, to cover the cost of the first lessons flowers

Please note: The teacher has florist scissors ($5) and rose strippers ($3) if you want to purchase them.

You will be provided with:

  • Fresh flowers at an additional weekly cost of $25 (details confirmed each week).

Prerequisite: Desirable

  • No previous knowledge of Flower Arrangement is required.
  • A love of flowers and floral arrangements is highly desired!

Delivery Mode

This is a step by step guide to create your fresh flower arrangements for family and friends. The course is taught by a trained florist who will have you designing with fresh flowers in no time.

Important Information

Fresh flowers from Sydney flower markets each week are an additional weekly cost approx. $25 per class.
This is to be paid to your teacher at the start of each class.
