Course Overview

If you are passionate about flowers and the art of floral design, then you would love our beginners Flower Arrangement – Fundamentals course!

Enjoy the simple beauty of seasonal blooms whilst learning to produce designs each week that can be used for home, work or gifted to someone special. You will explore the fundamentals of floristry and stimulate your inner creativity using contemporary as well as vintage inspired designs.

You will learn diverse flower arranging techniques using an array of containers, each week exploring a different range and style, whilst delving into the elements of design and color to merge creativity with technical floristry skills.

In addition, you will learn how to take care of your fresh flowers to get the longest life out of them including how to wrap them for gift ideas. You will leave each class blooming with inspiration.

Every session, you will make at least one flower arrangement and the tutor will demonstrate other flower arrangements as well as wrapping techniques.

Although this is designed as a beginner’s flower arrangement course, it is applicable for any level.

In this course you will learn:

  • Hand-held posy for a vase
  • Flower box arrangement
  • Fresh flower hand-tied bouquet
  • Ceramic pot or basket arrangement
  • Modern frontal arrangement in a bowl or box
  • Themed table centerpiece
  • Floral gift wrapping
  • Seasonal floral creations
  • Floral philosophy, such as colour and texture
  • Tips and techniques such as wiring, parafilming and cut flower care

By the end of the course you will know:

  • How to care for fresh flowers
  • How to wire fresh flowers
  • Wrapping techniques and presentation
  • How to arrange flowers in different containers, using different techniques
  • The equipment used in floristry
  • Elements of arrangement and colour coordination
  • How to combine creativity with floristry technical skills

What you need to know

Entry requirements

This course is suitable for all levels. Complete beginners are welcome as well as those students who have already completed the Introduction to Flower Arrangement course or higher levels.

What you need to provide

The course fee includes the flowers for the first lesson. payable to the tutor, to cover the cost of the first lesson’s flowers.

Please bring:

  • $35 for subsequent lessons (this will be for all flowers and sundries)
  • Pen and notepad
  • Secateurs or florist scissors

Please note: The teacher has florist scissors ($6) and rose strippers ($4) if you want to purchase them.

  • Find a day and time that suits your schedule.

Note: Enrolment is open to anyone 18 years or older.

Step 2 - Enrol and Verify

  • Click ‘Enrol Now’ after selecting your course and schedule.
  • Enter your details on the enrolment page.
  • Verify your email through a secure link sent to your email address.
  • Complete the secure checkout and payment process.

Step 3 - Receive Your Enrolment Details

  • For Online Zoom classes, a Zoom link and password will be emailed the day before class. Use the same link and password for subsequent sessions if applicable.
