Folk and Decorative Art

Course Overview

Join us for a captivating journey into the world of traditional folk art and its modern applications, tailored for both beginners and advanced painters.

Tracing back to the origins of folk art, which began centuries ago you will learn traditional techniques, motifs, the historical significance of folk art and its evolution into contemporary art forms.

From beginners to advanced painters, all students are guided through these traditional folk art methods, offering a progressive learning experience. While beginners grasp the foundational techniques, advanced painters have the opportunity to apply this knowledge to create modern artworks on canvas.

Throughout the sessions, students will explore a diverse range of subjects, including floral motifs, patterns and designs. They will also learn how to adapt these techniques to contemporary painting styles, encouraging personal expression and innovation.

This course is designed to cater to individuals at all skill levels, offering a holistic view of the evolution of folk art techniques and their versatility in the realm of modern artistic expressions.

Macquarie Community College operates from a range of venues across Northern and Western Sydney. We have campuses in Blacktown, Carlingford, Chatswood, Epping, Mt Druitt, Richmond, and Ryde. Enrol now!
