In the beginners course, you can continue building on the foundational knowledge acquired in the introductory course or elsewhere. The content aims to expand your French vocabulary, enhanced grammar skills, and continued development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities.

What you will learn

Course outline

  • Practicing conversations about shopping for foods at the local market or the grocers
  • Conversations about families and living accommodations
  • Conversations about how to ask for a hotel room, order a snack in a café
  • Conversations with people about their jobs.
  • Using the past tense in every day speaking highlighting your daily, weekly or weekend activities
  • Using future tense in everyday speaking about what you intend to do in the future such as travelling, leisure activities, etc.

Course outcome

By the end of the course you should have a pretty good understanding of the basic of French enough to handle many practical everyday situations and hold a simple conversation with someone.

What you need to know

Entry requirements

Students need to have completed at least 16 hours of prior study in French or the Introduction to French course.

What you need to provide

  • Pen and notebook.

Please note: You will need access to the internet and a smartphone, tablet, computer or laptop in order to participate in the Remote Zoom Classes.

How to Enrol

Step 1

Anyone 18 years or older may enrol into our non-accredited short courses by:
• choosing the course you are interested in and;
• finding a day and time that is suitable.

Step 2

After selecting your course and class. click ‘’Enrol Now’’ and enter your details.
• You will be asked to verify your email through a secure link sent to your email address.
• Once you have returned to the enrolment page you will proceed through the secure checkout and payment process.
• Alternatively, you can call customer service on 1300 845 888.

Step 3

Once your enrolment has been processed, you will receive the following emails:
• Enrolment confirmation: you will receive this immediately after your enrolment has been processed. Please check and read your Terms and conditions.
• Tax invoice: the payer of your enrolment will receive this immediately after your enrolment has been processed.
• Course reminder: you will receive a reminder the day prior to your class commencement.
• Zoom link (for remote zoom classes only): you will receive a Zoom link and password the day prior to class commencement. If your course has multiple sessions, use the same link and password to access each session.
