Advanced Guitar Lessons Sydney

Guitar Lessons Stage 4 – Advanced will build and further develop a student’s guitar playing skills. For students who are familiar with the essential fundamentals of guitar playing, and can play a few tunes.

Online learning for this course is at scheduled class times and sessions. It could include:

  • Livestream video classes online;
  • Interaction with your tutor and other students during livestream video sessions;
  • Group exercises, group discussion, reading dialogue, written exercises, and games to practice new learned skills in an enjoyable way.

Please note: You will need access to the internet and a smartphone, tablet, computer or laptop in order to participate in the livestream video classes.

Face-to-face classes may resume at one of our campuses before the end of the course, depending on discussions between the tutor and students as well as the Government’s recommendations at the time, including appropriate social distancing measures, hand washing and other hygiene protocols.

Course Outline

Topics include:

  • Reading chord charts
  • Chord and scale construction
  • Understanding rhythm

Course Outcome

  • is intended that by the end of the course you will be able to play chordal accompaniment and melodies to several entire songs. You will have the knowledge to apply these skills to a variety of musical settings. Students have the opportunity to practise the application of new skills on a piece of music of their own choosing. This will be presented to the group in the final week.

What to Bring

  • Students will need their own acoustic guitar for this class.
  • Tea, coffee, biscuits supplied

Prerequisite: Essential

  • Students need to be familiar with the essential fundamentals of guitar playing – and have completed a minimum of 12 months' tuition.

Logistical Information

This is an online course with classes held via livestream video classes over Zoom.

Delivery Mode

  • This is a group class. Material is presented using a combination of written and played musical examples. You will play individually and in small groups. Feedback will be provided individually and to the group as a whole.
