Introduction to Russian

Course Overview

This is a great introductory course to the beautiful Russian language. You will learn basic language that is needed in everyday situations, in the workplace, or whilst travelling.

You will learn pronunciation, vocabulary and popular phrases that will come handy in a work or travel context. Along with spoken Russian, you will learn to read and write the Russian alphabet, common words and familiarise yourself with the basic grammar rules.

The class is interactive and all students will participate in conversations and communicate with each other in Russian, pretending that they are in a live situation. The class is designed to be flexible and cater for the needs and wants of every student involved. Students who already have a basic understanding of Russian are welcome to come too as the structure will allow every student to gain extra knowledge.

Completing this course will equip you to have a basic conversation with someone in Russian.

In this Russian language course, you will learn:

  • Numbers
  • Days of the week
  • Words and skills how to form a sentence
  • Introducing the concept of gender in the Russian grammar (in Russian language each noun has a gender)
  • To present yourself
  • Introducing people to each other
  • Body parts – directions and movements
  • Introduction of Russian culture and traditions
  • Working on pronunciation
  • Introduction of the alphabet

Course outcome

At the end of this Russian course the students will be able to:

  • Greet other people
  • Use basic expressions and sentences while shopping, at the coffee shop, at the doctor’s office, travelling etc.

This Introduction to Russian course is for the complete beginner and assumes no prior knowledge of the language.

How to Enrol

Step 1 - Choose Your Course

  • Select the non-accredited short course you are interested in.
  • Find a day and time that suits your schedule.

Note: Enrolment is open to anyone 18 years or older.

Step 2 - Enrol and Verify

  • Click ‘Enrol Now’ after selecting your course and schedule.
  • Enter your details on the enrolment page.
  • Verify your email through a secure link sent to your email address.
  • Complete the secure checkout and payment process.

Step 3 - Receive Your Enrolment Details

  • For Online Zoom classes, a Zoom link and password will be emailed the day before class. Use the same link and password for subsequent sessions if applicable.
