Italian – Beginners – Sydney Course

Students will have completed Introduction to Italian or have gained some basic vocabulary and familiarisation with the language from past study, family or travel. Students will develop their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.

Course Outline

  • Introduce family and friends
  • Describe people
  • Ask and give directions
  • Tell the time
  • Identify colours
  • Use Numbers 30 – 1,000
  • Food menus
  • Purchase fruit and vegetables.
  • Grammar: Definite articles in the plural. Partitives (some). Regular and common irregular verbs. Negative.

Course Outcome

  • At the end of the course, students should be able to:
  • Conduct a basic conversation in elementary Italian
  • Give basic instructions and directions and build general comprehension and communication skills

Prerequisite: Essential

  • Students need to have completed an introductory course, one term or a minimum of 16 hours tuition or have equivalent knowledge.

  • This course is classroom-based and includes group exercises, group discussion, reading dialogue, written exercises, and games to practice new learned skills in an enjoyable way.
