Course Overview

Learn Korean for Beginners and join the 75 million people who speak Korean, giving you a world of opportunity to perfect your language skills.

Korean culture has spread throughout Asia, with K-pop and Korean dramas gaining popularity and making Korean a more popular language to study. This beginners course follows on from the Introduction to Korean course, which students must complete, or equivalent and will know basic vocabulary, sentence structure, Korean alphabet.

We will cover Korean customs and culture, vocabulary, grammar, adjectives and the importance of sentence order, how to combine vowels and Korean pronunciation.

By the end of the course, you will be more confident in having a basic conversation in Korean. You will also start to go on Korean trips. You will also be able to have a basic conversation in Korean and have more confidence in pronouncing the Korean alphabet (han geul).

You will be able to read the subtitles and understand the characters. In fact, if you enjoy Korean entertainment, you can also substitute your language classes. Why learn Korean with boring grammar drills, when you can immerse yourself with exciting K-Dramas!

What you will learn

Course outline

In this Korean Language for Beginners course, you will learn:

  • Visiting someone's home
  • Korean customs when visiting someone's home
  • Calling someone on the telephone & phone etiquette
  • Telephone numbers
  • Making appointments
  • Studying Korean
  • Using adjectives to describe things
  • Introduction to building up your vocabulary as well as basic grammar and order of sentences

Some simple Korean drama scripts, K-pop lyrics and writing will also be introduced in this class and cultural information will also be provided throughout the sessions.

Course outcome

By the end of the course, you will be able to have a simple conversation in Korean and have more confidence in pronouncing and reading Korean sentences.

Entry requirements

Intermediate course is suitable for students with prior learning in Korean class. Students will have already completed the Korean Language for Beginners class or equivalent and will know basic vocabulary, sentence structure, Korean alphabet.

How to Enrol

Step 1 - Choose Your Course

  • Select the non-accredited short course you are interested in.
  • Find a day and time that suits your schedule.

Note: Enrolment is open to anyone 18 years or older.

Step 2 - Enrol and Verify

  • Click ‘Enrol Now’ after selecting your course and schedule.
  • Enter your details on the enrolment page.
  • Verify your email through a secure link sent to your email address.
  • Complete the secure checkout and payment process.

Step 3 - Receive Your Enrolment Details

  • You will receive an immediate enrolment confirmation email upon successful enrolment. Check and read the attached Terms and Conditions.

  • You will receive a course reminder email a day before your class begins.
  • For Online Zoom classes, a Zoom link and password will be emailed the day before class. Use the same link and password for subsequent sessions if applicable.
