Everyone has a story to tell! Through targeted writing prompts, you will be guided to start recording your life story, to create a lasting memoir to share with your family and loved ones.
In this course you will learn how to edit your own writing and discover how to structure a series of writing pieces into an engaging narrative. The course will be taught in an engaging way where you will be able to share your stories as well as listen to the stories of others.
By the end of this course students will have written and shared a draft memoir based on real life events.

Course Outline
You will:
- Storyboard a picture book
- Write a poem suitable for children
- Plot a chapter book
- Understand the elements of a short story
- Discover markets for your work
- Learn how to write a query letter
- Workshop your writing with the group
Course Outcome
At the end of the course, students will understand how to write, edit and submit a short story/poem/picture book for publication.

Prerequisite
A proficiency in written English is essential for this Writing for Children course.
No prior writing experience is neccessary. This course is also suitable for people who have completed an introductory creative writing course.
