Tech Savvy Seniors – Managing Your Digital Assets

Course Overview

Do you want to learn how to manage your Digital Assets? A digital asset is any information about you, or belongs to you, that’s stored on a phone, computer or online. If you use a phone, tablet, laptop or computer, then chances are you are leaving your digital assets all over the internet and across your own devices.

Digital assets are important and potentially very valuable as they contain personal data about you. It includes your passwords, online accounts, memberships, digital files and photos stored on the cloud and more.

The course is for you if you have a smartphone or tablet and can protect you if have any digital passwords, have an email account, have a social media presence, have photos on your phone or backed up elsewhere or if you pay a monthly or annual fee for any technology or technology service.

Completing this course will provide you the know-how to keep your digital assets secure and to minimise the chance they’ll be stolen or misused.

What you will learn

Course outline

In this course we will look at how to secure your digital assets. These may include:

  • Passwords to important websites, such as bank accounts and superannuation funds
  • Primary email account and other email accounts
  • Internet accounts that you pay for monthly or annual
  • Online accounts or memberships
  • Files stored on a smartphone, computer, tablet or other digital device, as well as in the cloud

Course outcome

In this workshop you’ll learn what digital assets are and how to manage them.

By the end of this course, you will know how to keep your digital assets secure and to minimise the chance they’ll be stolen or misused.

Entry requirements

The course is all about digital assets – so the more you have used digital technology, the more valuable this course will be to you.

Prerequisite: Essential

Participants must be over 60 years old. Tech Savvy Seniors is an initiative of the NSW Ageing Strategy and is funded in partnership between the NSW Government and Telstra.

What you need to provide

Please bring:

  • A pen and notepad
  • A laptop, smartphone or tablet with internet access
  • Your passwords and other logon information for your online activities, such as Facebook
  • In particular, you’ll be doing some activities with your Opal or Gold Opal online account, so bring your card and logon information for that

Step 1

Anyone 18 years or older may enrol into our non-accredited short courses by: • choosing the course you are interested in and; • finding a day and time that is suitable.

Step 2

After selecting your course and class. click ‘’Enrol Now’’ and enter your details. • You will be asked to verify your email through a secure link sent to your email address. • Once you have returned to the enrolment page you will proceed through the secure checkout and payment process. • Alternatively, you can call customer service on 1300 845 888. Step 3

Once your enrolment has been processed, you will receive the following emails: • Enrolment confirmation: you will receive this immediately after your enrolment has been processed. Please check and read your Terms and conditions. • Tax invoice: the payer of your enrolment will receive this immediately after your enrolment has been processed. • Course reminder: you will receive a reminder the day prior to your class commencement. • Zoom link (for remote zoom classes only): you will receive a Zoom link and password the day prior to class commencement.
