Digital Job Ready (SEE Program) will give you further training in learning strategies, workplace reading and writing, numeracy, oral communication, and most importantly, digital literacy.

This course is designed for individuals who need to further develop their English language, literacy, and digital literacy skills to prepare for entry into the workforce or career training pathways.

What you will learn

Course outline

In this course, you will learn how to:

  • Use English language and digital technology terminology related to two commonly used devices
  • Use digital technology terminology to identify two uses of one common program
  • Follow verbal or written instructions to apply digital technology skills to complete one short and simple digital technology task and one short and simple digital language learning activity
  • Use simple terminology and expressions related to digital devices, programs, and their uses
  • Understand spoken, digital, or paper-based instructions related to using technology and accessing digital programs for language learning
  • Understand short, simple verbal or on-screen written instructions related to digital devices and their uses
  • Use WHS terminology and follow instructions related to the use of technology
  • Use expressions that show a short sequence of steps and advice in the use of technology, for example, first, next, and simple phrasal verbs such as turn on, turn off, and go to next
  • Use simple question forms to seek assistance, clarification, repetition, or explanation
  • Use technology in language learning
  • Understand conventions, navigation, and layout in digital language learning tasks
  • Develop the skills to find and use basic legal information relevant to the community
  • Locate and navigate one informational website
  • Access the internet on one occasion to develop digital communication skills
  • Use an email program on one occasion to locate, open, and close an email
  • Read, compose, and send one simple email
  • Identify terminology related to digital devices, functions, programs, and the internet
  • Understand spoken and written language related to accessing the internet and internet programs for language learning

  • Use simple prepositions and prepositional phrases related to accessing digital technology, such as move the mouse under, over, or on that word, and scroll up or down
  • Use simple connectives used in instructions and routine email communications
  • Use simple adjectives, adverbs, and adverbial phrases used in routine instructions and communication
  • Use simple sentence structures for email communication, such as simple compound sentences or simple question forms
  • Use simple, common informal expressions, conventions, and protocols used in internet use and email communication
  • Use a simple understanding of register in email communications

  • Minimise, maximise, and close screens
  • Turn a computer off and on again as a troubleshooting strategy
  • Operate equipment using a digital interface
  • Make a call on a mobile phone
  • Enter a delivery address into a GPS navigator and locate directions
  • Connect and collaborate with others using a variety of digital devices and software to transact and communicate
  • Understand an increasing range of uses of the internet for activities and transactions
  • Understand and apply a limited number of digital netiquette conventions
  • Initiate, maintain, and end online communications
  • Begin to demonstrate some insight when sharing information over the internet
  • Understand the importance of secure information and privacy
  • Take some personal responsibility for identifying and managing risk factors
  • Ensure security protection software is downloaded and updated
  • Select an appropriate audience for communication

This course will include both classroom-based sessions and home study.

Assessment

Assessment (including recognition of prior learning) must:

  • Meet the requirements of the relevant training package or accredited course
  • Be conducted in accordance with the principles of assessment and the rules of evidence
  • Meet workplace and, where relevant, regulatory requirements

For this course, assessment will entail the following:

Assessment methods include written and oral tasks, practical tasks, and observation by the assessor. You will be informed when assessments are to take place.

An appropriate level of language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills is required to enrol in this course. Macquarie Community College may conduct a pre-training assessment (PTA) as part of the pre-enrolment process.

Fees and government subsidies

The Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program, funded by the Australian Government, provides support and training in language, literacy, numeracy, and digital skills to help you prepare for work and further study.

*Eligibility criteria apply. The SEE Program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations and is free to all eligible participants.

Students will need to supply the required evidence in accordance with SEE Program eligibility requirements.

Fees & Government Subsidies

At Macquarie Community College, we create and provide affordable and inclusive learning opportunities that meet the needs of individuals, organisations and communities.

Given the broad range of accredited and non-accredited programs offered by the College the fees and subsidies will vary depending on the course.

Fee for Service Courses

Funded Courses

Macquarie Community College delivers NSW government subsidised training, including training under the Smart and Skilled and Adult and Community Education (ACE) programs.

To access government subsidised training, including fee exemptions or concessions, you must meet the following criteria:

  • aged 15 years or older
  • no longer be at school
  • living or working in NSW
  • Australian OR New Zealand Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident OR a Humanitarian Visa Holder, OR a Partner Visa Holder whose sponsor is a current or past Humanitarian Visa Holder

When you enrol in a NSW government subsidised course you will be required to pay the Smart and Skilled student fee unless you qualify for a fee exemption.

Credit Transfer

Am I Eligible for Credit Transfers?

Credit Transfer (CT) is granted as a result of identifying learning outcomes already achieved through formal training. Credit outcomes may allow for entry into a qualification and/or provide credit towards the qualification. Credit Transfer given may reduce the time required for you to achieve the qualification.

To apply for Credit Transfer you will need to provide original or certified copies of certificates previously attained through formal training prior to completing the enrolment process.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is granted as a result of identifying and assessing previous and current informal education and training, work experience and/or life experience and knowledge. Previous learning and the evidence supplied is measured against pre-determined performance standards contained within the Units of Competency.

To apply for recognition of prior learning you should indicate your decision to apply for recognition as soon as possible after enrolment and the induction program.

We will be happy to provide you with an RPL kit after speaking directly with you to ensure you understand the requirements of this process.
