Festive Flower Arrangement – Christmas Floristry

Course Overview

Get creative for Christmas and learn how to make beautiful festive flower arrangements for your home in this hands-on Christmas floristry course.

Over four weeks, you will create a different festive floral design each week using fresh flowers, foliage, natural materials and decorative elements such as gum nuts, berries, cones and ribbons. From an elegant vase arrangement to a Christmas table centrepiece and festive door wreath, you will learn practical floristry techniques while creating decorations to enjoy throughout the festive season.

Guided by an experienced florist, you will explore how to arrange flowers in different containers, combine colours and natural materials, position flowers and foliage effectively and care for your finished arrangements.

This course is suitable for all skill levels, including beginners. Whether you love flowers, enjoy decorating your home for Christmas or simply want to try a creative seasonal activity, this course provides a relaxed and practical introduction to festive floristry.

What you will learn

Course outline

During this four-week course, you will create four festive flower arrangements:

  • Frontal vase arrangement
  • Festive arrangement in a glass vase
  • Christmas table arrangement with a candle
  • Christmas door wreath

You will also learn:

  • How to arrange fresh flowers and foliage in different ways
  • What equipment to use when arranging flowers
  • How placement and colour contribute to floral design
  • How to combine creativity with practical floristry techniques
  • How to care for fresh flowers and finished arrangements

Course outcome

By the end of this course, participants will have created four festive floral designs and developed practical skills in arranging and caring for fresh flowers.

Students will gain confidence working with flowers, foliage, natural materials and decorative elements while learning how colour, placement, containers and floristry techniques can be combined to create beautiful Christmas arrangements for the home.

Entry requirements

This course is suitable for all skill levels. No previous flower arranging or floristry experience is required.

Beginners are welcome, as well as students who would like to broaden their existing flower arranging skills and explore festive floral design.

What you need to provide

Please bring:

  • Pen and paper
  • Cash for weekly flowers and sundries

The flowers for the first lesson are included in the course enrolment fee.

Fresh flowers and sundries sourced from the flower markets will be supplied for the remaining classes at an additional cost, payable directly to the tutor with cash.

  • Week 2: $50 for flowers and sundries
  • Week 3: $65 for flowers and sundries for the table arrangement
  • Week 4: $85 for flowers and sundries for the door wreath

  • Florist scissors – $6
  • Rose strippers – $4

Note: Enrolment is open to anyone 18 years or older.

Step 2 - Enrol and Verify

Step 3 - Receive Your Enrolment Details

  • For Online Zoom classes, a Zoom link and password will be emailed the day before class. Use the same link and password for subsequent sessions if applicable.
