This course is designed for small business owners, entrepreneurs, and community professionals who know they “should be doing video” but don’t know where to start.

Video is one of the most powerful ways to connect with customers, build trust, and stand out online. This course will teach you practical presentation skills, simple on-camera techniques, and easy video creation strategies so you can feel natural, confident, and ready to share your message.

You don’t need any prior experience – this is a beginner-friendly course that assumes very little background in video, public speaking, or social media apart from basic computer and smartphone usage.

  • Confidently present yourself on camera for social media, websites, and online presentations
  • Overcome nerves and use practical techniques to manage anxiety before filming
  • Apply clear speaking skills, body language, and eye contact to engage your audience
  • Plan and script short, impactful video content tailored to your business or community work
  • Record videos using simple equipment such as a smartphone, tripod, and ring light
  • Understand basic framing, lighting, and sound
  • Develop a repeatable process for brainstorming, recording, and sharing video content ideas
  • Build a starter library of videos you can use immediately for your business or personal projects

What you need to know

Entry requirements

This course is designed for beginners and assumes no prior experience with video, public speaking, or social media marketing.

There are no formal educational requirements however basic smartphone and computer skills is required.

What you need to provide

You will need to bring:

  • Smartphone with a camera and enough storage for some videos
  • Laptop with storage space, ability to connect to internet
  • A free CapCut, Descript, Edits (app) or Canva account will help you follow along and practice in the room.
  • A ring light and tripod if you have them – no worries if you don't, but if you learn by "doing" it'll help you!
  • Chargers for everything electronic you bring along to class
  • Notepad and pen

Other information

The class is delivered in a classroom setting with a practical, hands-on focus. Each session combines short presentations with interactive activities designed to build camera confidence step by step.

The instructor demonstrates techniques for body language, voice projection, and framing, followed by guided practice where students record their own short videos using their smartphones.

Students will work individually and in small groups to practice presentation skills, receive constructive feedback, and refine their delivery. Verbal guidance, visual demonstrations, and live examples are used throughout the course to support different learning styles.

By the end of the course, students will have recorded a selection of short videos they can take away and use for their business or personal projects. The emphasis is on learning by doing in a supportive and encouraging environment.

How to Enrol

Step 1 - Choose Your Course

  • Select the non-accredited short course you are interested in.
  • Find a day and time that suits your schedule.

Note: Enrolment is open to anyone 18 years or older.

Step 2 - Enrol and Verify

  • Click ‘Enrol Now’ after selecting your course and schedule.
  • Enter your details on the enrolment page.
  • Verify your email through a secure link sent to your email address.
  • Complete the secure checkout and payment process.

Step 3 - Receive Your Enrolment Details

  • For Online Zoom classes, a Zoom link and password will be emailed the day before class. Use the same link and password for subsequent sessions if applicable.
