Build your cloud computing skills and learn how to use Dropbox in this practical digital literacy course for seniors. Designed for older adults who already understand the basics of cloud storage, this hands-on workshop will help you put your knowledge into practice and become more confident storing and accessing files online.

Cloud Computing – Part 2 builds on the fundamentals introduced in Cloud Computing – Part 1. You will move beyond understanding what the cloud is and begin using cloud technology to manage your own digital files.

In this workshop, you will learn how to set up and use Dropbox, a cloud storage service that allows you to store files online and access them from compatible computers, smartphones and tablets.

With practical, step-by-step guidance, you will explore how Dropbox works and develop greater confidence using cloud storage as part of your everyday digital life.

  • How to navigate your Dropbox account
  • How cloud storage can help you access your files from compatible devices
  • How to use Dropbox on a computer
  • How to install Dropbox on a smartphone or tablet, if time permits

Course outcome

By the end of this course, participants will have practical experience setting up and using Dropbox for cloud storage.

You will have a better understanding of how to store and access files using the cloud and will develop greater confidence using Dropbox as part of your everyday digital activities.

Entry requirements

This course is designed for seniors who already have a basic understanding of cloud computing and would like to develop practical skills using cloud storage.

Cloud Computing – Part 2 is a continuation of Cloud Computing – Part 1. It is highly recommended that participants complete Part 1 first or have a basic understanding of what cloud computing is, its benefits and risks, and how cloud storage services work.

What you need to provide

  • Notepad and pen
  • An internet-connected laptop or desktop computer, either your own or one provided during the workshop
  • Optional: Your own Apple iPhone, iPad, Android phone or tablet if you would like to install Dropbox on your device, time permitting
  • Your Apple Account login details or Google Account login details if you would like to install Dropbox on your own mobile device

How to Enrol

Step 1 - Choose Your Course

  • Select the non-accredited short course you are interested in.
  • Find a day and time that suits your schedule.

Note: Enrolment is open to anyone 18 years or older.

Step 2 - Enrol and Verify

  • Click ‘Enrol Now’ after selecting your course and schedule.
  • Enter your details on the enrolment page.
  • Verify your email through a secure link sent to your email address.
  • Complete the secure checkout and payment process.

Step 3 - Receive Your Enrolment Details

  • For Online Zoom classes, a Zoom link and password will be emailed the day before class. Use the same link and password for subsequent sessions if applicable.
