Course Overview
Build confidence using the internet safely in this beginner-friendly Tech Savvy Seniors workshop. Designed for older adults who want to better understand how the internet works, this practical course explains the basics of getting online, using web browsers, searching for information and recognising safe and trustworthy websites.
The internet is now part of everyday life, helping people stay connected with family and friends, access news and entertainment, manage banking and shopping, and find information and services. This course will help you understand how to use the internet more confidently and safely for everyday tasks.
You will learn the difference between the internet, Wi-Fi and mobile data, as well as the difference between a web browser and a search engine. With guided demonstrations and practical activities, you will practise searching for useful information, opening and navigating websites, using browser tabs and returning to favourite websites.
The workshop also introduces important internet safety skills, including how to recognise trustworthy websites and identify warning signs that a website may be risky. You will also learn how browser history works, how bookmarks can help you save useful websites and how private browsing can be used when you do not want your browsing history saved on the device.
This course is designed to be relaxed, practical and supportive, with no exams and plenty of opportunities to ask questions while building your digital confidence.
