What you will learn
Course outline
In this course you will learn:
- Learn how to follow and read written instructions and diagrams
- Instruct on using your sewing machine, 1/4" foot and walking foot
- Learn how to use tools (rotary cutter, cutting mat and inch cutting ruler) to cut fabric correctly
- Instruct on appropriate needles, thread and fabric
- Learn how to make bags, quilts and other projects
Course outcome
By the end of this course, participants will understand the foundations of patchwork, appliqué and quilting techniques. Students will gain confidence using quilting tools, sewing machines and fabric construction methods while creating handmade textile projects and developing creative sewing skills.
Participants will also build practical skills that can be applied to future quilting, patchwork and sewing projects.

This course is suitable for beginners or intermediate.
What you need to provide
- Fabric for first session and/or project you would like to make
- Clean or serviced Sewing Machine with all accessories and instruction book
- 1/4" Foot and Walking Foot for their machine
- Machine thread – cotton or poly cotton
- Rotary cutter
- Cutting mat
- Patchwork inch measuring ruler
- Tape measure
- Paper scissors and fabric scissors
- Sewing kit
- Glass head pins
- Mechanical pencil, pen and note book
- Further requirements will be discussed at the first lesson.
