Course Overview

Join our experienced bushwalking guide Greg Williams, who has been leading nature walks around Sydney for nearly 40 years. Book this walk individually or enrol in the Sunday Adventure Bushwalks Package, which includes four unique bushwalks at a discounted rate.

This easy to moderate walk explores the stunning Heathcote National Park, home to some of the best natural swimming holes in the Sydney region. Follow the scenic track along Heathcote Creek and visit a series of tranquil waterholes & Myuna, Kingfisher, Bondel, and Miara Pools. On a warm day, you will have the chance to cool off with a refreshing dip in these crystal-clear pools.

Along the way, discover the parks rich variety of native flora, from Eucalypts and Banksias to flannel flowers and rare trigger plants. This peaceful walk offers the perfect mix of relaxation, natural beauty, and gentle adventure.

Entry requirements

Macquarie Community College conducts a wide range of bushwalks for people who have limited bushwalking experience through to the experienced bushwalker.

Most bushwalking trails are generally suitable for those who have a reasonable level of fitness, although the bushwalks that have been graded introductory are usually suitable for those who have limited bushwalking experience.

What you need to provide

On our bushwalks you will need:

  • Sturdy comfortable shoes
  • Clothes for all weather conditions
  • Wet weather gear (if required)
  • Hat
  • Small backpack
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses
  • Snacks, lunch
  • Water bottles

Participants are expected to arrange their own transport to arrive at each meeting place on time, so that the group can start on schedule.

  • Meeting Place: Adjacent 11 Warabin Street, Waterfall.
  • Driving Instructions: Allow minimum 1hour 5minutes travel time from Macquarie Park.

Other information

  • Bushwalks can sometimes be rescheduled to an alternative location due to park closures, bushfires, flooding, and for other unforeseen circumstances
  • Bushwalk amendments are usually sent out by e-mail or by phone on the Friday/Saturday before the walk
  • To ensure you are properly informed of any changes, please be sure to enrol with your current e-mail address and mobile phone number
Operational Conditions and Postponements
  • Macquarie Community College reserves the right to alter or postpone the bushwalk/s or part thereof due to extremes of weather or changes to operational conditions such as road closures, bushfires, or conditions beyond our usual control. Every effort will be made to keep to the itinerary and advertised departure times, but no guarantee can be made and no compensation shall be made for failure to meet those times
  • Our bushwalks take place in all but exceptional weather conditions. Conditions such as mist, fog showers, rain and windy conditions do not usually affect the event operation. However, if the weather is deemed to be extreme, the event/s will be postponed to another date. Pre-paid event fees will be credited to the new date or a future event

Note: Enrolment is open to anyone 18 years or older.

Step 2 - Enrol and Verify

  • Verify your email through a secure link sent to your email address.

Step 3 - Receive Your Enrolment Details

  • For Online Zoom classes, a Zoom link and password will be emailed the day before class. Use the same link and password for subsequent sessions if applicable.
