Celebrating 30 Years of Adult Learners Week

During the first week of September, Macquarie Community College proudly celebrated Adult Learners Week!

Did you know this year marked the 30th anniversary of Adult Learners Week in Australia?
This UNESCO initiative is now celebrated in many countries across the world.

Our team feels proud to be part of this global tradition of lifelong learning, ensuring we create a fresh program of exciting taster classes for adults to discover new learning opportunities. This year was no exception, hosting two fantastic days of activities at our Chatswood and Epping campuses.

Two Campuses, Two Days of Learning

At Chatswood, our focus was on cognitive health and self-care practices.
Two wonderful trainers, Rachel Puncheon and Corinne Bozsoky, spoke about lifestyle choices that influence our daily health. They also shared how to reconnect with yourself through mindfulness, meditation, and modern Qigong.

Participants then enjoyed a beautiful Flower Arrangement class, leaving with stunning bouquets and a wonderful mood.

For those who are looking for a job we ran a Job Readiness session to introduce learners to training opportunities at MCC.

At Epping, we kicked off Adult Learners Week with a series of free taster classes.
The energy was incredible, and participants embraced every moment.

The highlight was a visit from Monica Tudehope MP, Member for Epping, and Amanda Lawrence, Executive Director Training Services who met with our CEO Theresa Collignon, Head of Training Stuart Bastock, and Head of Marketing, Sales and Service Sandra McKinney.

Monica and Amanda also toured the campus and chatted with students from Aged care and Disability, English, and ALW classes.

Exciting Classes and New Connections

Our spacious Epping campus allowed us to offer a wide range of classes.
The schedule included a Tech Savvy AI Workshop, Pastel for Beginners, Espresso Making, Wine and Cheese Pairing and much more.

Every session was full of energy and enthusiasm.

Our Animal Care trainers shared practical tips on caring for dogs.
Hospitality trainer Lachlan prepared delicious coffee while teaching the basics of coffee-making.
David Vasey, an inspiring Tech Savvy trainer, introduced learners to Cyber Security and AI.

We also offered a yoga class for those who wanted to stretch, relax and explore meditation.

The best part was watching participants meet, connect, and leave with new hobbies and friendships.

We thank everyone who joined us and made these celebrations so special.
Our MCC team remains committed to helping communities learn, connect, and thrive.
