Macquarie Community College once again joined the nationwide Get Online Week celebration with two inspiring days of free digital learning. Our Free Taster Classes and Demonstrations helped participants gain essential computer and online skills, meet like-minded people, and have fun while learning.
This year’s theme, “Feel safer and more confident online,” encouraged everyone to embrace technology, stay connected, and enjoy the benefits of digital literacy. Whether beginners or returning learners, all participants discovered that learning online can be simple, social, and empowering.

On Wednesday, 22 October, our Epping campus buzzed with excitement as learners joined classes designed to boost their digital confidence.
Participants explored essential programs like Word for Beginners, PowerPoint for Beginners, and Canva, gaining practical skills for everyday use. Trainers guided small groups step by step, making digital learning approachable and enjoyable for everyone.
The day wasn’t all about screens and keyboards – attendees also joined creative workshops such as Painting, Flower Arrangement, and Health and Wellbeing. These fun classes reminded everyone that learning can nurture both mind and creativity.
Students left feeling proud, connected, and ready to explore more digital opportunities.
Learning Online and Staying Connected
On Thursday, 23 October, learners logged in from home for a full day of online sessions via Zoom.
These classes focused on practical, real-world skills – from Social Media for Beginners to Online Shopping, Word for Beginners, and PowerPoint Essentials. Participants learned how to navigate the online world safely, protect their information, and connect with friends and family confidently.
For those eager to try something different, the day also offered creative online sessions such as Pastels, Celtic Art, and Beauty Tips. Every session encouraged participants to learn, connect, and have fun from the comfort of their homes.
