It’s Never Too Late to Learn: Mark’s Story

Sometimes life throws unexpected challenges our way – like health issues that force us to start over. That’s exactly what happened to Mark. A proud father of six and grandfather of eight, he ran his own concrete business. A New Beginning Close to Home

Mark enrolled in a Basic Computer course, hoping to build new skills and improve his employability.

“Macquarie Community College team is very welcoming and understanding. They make it easier to start again,” he says.

Like many adult learners, Mark was nervous at first.

“It’s hard learning new stuff at my age,” he admits. But he quickly discovered that learning isn’t about age—it’s about attitude.

Every Computer Class Is a Step Forward

Even small wins feel huge when you’re learning something completely new.

“Just being able to turn on a computer and access information is incredible,” Mark says. “It’s like entering a new world.”

With support from his teacher Haih, Mark faces each challenge with growing confidence.

“Sometimes it feels like I’m going backwards, but she guides me through the tasks, one by one. I couldn’t do this without

Finding Confidence with Computer Courses

Learning at Macquarie Community College hasn’t just changed Mark’s skills—it’s changed his outlook.

“Knowing basic computer skills has opened up a whole new life for me,” he shares. “Now, I’m even enrolling in a second course – Pathway to Intermediate Computer Skills.

And it’s not all hard work. Mark shares that his classroom is full of laughs and kindness.

“We’re from many different cultures, but we get along really well. They even brought in a cake for my birthday!”

Advice from One Learner to Another

Mark wants others to know that it’s never too late to learn.

“Don’t be afraid to enrol,” he says. “The system they provide is very professional, and they truly understand where you’re coming from.”

Thanks to his time at Macquarie Community College, Mark no longer sees computers as confusing. Now, he sees them as tools for discovery – and for shaping a brand-new future.

Our team is incredibly proud of Mark and all that he’s achieved. His determination, positive attitude, and openness to learning are truly inspiring. We wish Mark all the very best in his learning journey ahead.
