Jas, the Aged Care Tutor Who Inspires and Empowers

Jas Khanooja didn’t plan to be a teacher – but his passion for community care naturally led him to the classroom. With qualifications in Disability Support, Mental Health, Ageing Support, and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Jas brings years of real-world experience into every lesson.

Since 2016, Jas has been a dedicated trainer at Macquarie Community College, teaching Aged Care, Disability and First Aid courses with heart and hands-on skill.

“I started out as an aged care support worker. Helping people made me want to pass on that knowledge,” he shares. “Now, I get to empower students to do meaningful work.”

Aged Care Courses with Real Impact

For Jas, teaching is about more than theory. He makes every class practical, relevant, and confidence-building.

“In First Aid, there’s this moment when students realise – they can actually save a life,” he says. “And in Aged Care, I see them become compassionate, skilled carers who truly understand the needs of older people.”

His sessions are interactive and always evolving. Jas works hard to keep lessons aligned with current industry practices so students graduate job ready.

One moment he’ll never forget – the student once struggled with CPR and almost gave up.

We practiced together, step by step. When he finally got it, he smiled and said, ‘I could actually save someone now.’ That’s what it’s all about.”

Learning That Makes a Difference

Jas believes Aged Care courses do more than train workers – they change lives.

“My students come from different backgrounds, but they all want to make a difference. Their dedication keeps me inspired,” he says.

He also recommends great tools to keep learning going:
