Bushwalk 4 – Shark Bay - Sunday 9 September – Sydney Course

Escape to the great outdoors with our resident bushwalking guide, Greg Williams, who has been leading bushwalks around Sydney for over 33 years. You can book each bushwalk individually or book the 'Bushwalking – Sunday Adventure Bushwalks Package' which includes all four bushwalks at a discounted price.

This bushwalk along Shark Bay will reward you with beautiful coastal scenery, sandstone architecture and grand rock formations, sandy beaches and isolated salt water rock pools, giant fissures and more. Bring your swimmers if it is a warm day and a camera for capturing the highlights of the day.

All bushwalks have morning tea provided with tea, coffee and delicious chocolate treats available.

What to Wear/Bring

On our bushwalks you will need:

  • Sturdy comfortable shoes
  • Clothes for all weather conditions
  • Wet weather gear (if required)
  • Hat
  • Small backpack
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses
  • Snacks, lunch
  • Water bottles
  • Swimming costume, towel if you wanted to swim

Important Information

Participants are expected to arrange their own transport to get to each meeting place on time, so that the group can start on schedule.

  • Meeting Place: Meet adjacent to Catherine Hill Bay Bowling Club, 69 Flowers Drive, Catherine Hill Bay.
  • Driving Instructions: From Wahroonga F3 on ramp drive north [72.5km] leaving the F3 freeway at Budgewoi/Swansea/ exit (Doyalson Interchange, 2nd exit after McDonalds). From here you will follow the Motorway Link/Pacific Highway north for approximately 25km then turn right at the Catherine Hill Bay sign into Flowers Drive. Note: This is actually the second entrance to Catherine Hill Bay. Drive 2.1km to meeting place on left. (Allow minimum 1hr 5mins travel time from Wahroonga).

Event Amendments

  • Bushwalks can sometimes be re-scheduled to an alternative location due to park closures, bushfires, flooding, and for other unforeseen circumstances.
  • Bushwalk amendments are usually sent out by e-mail or by phone on the Friday/Saturday before the walk.
  • To ensure you are properly informed of any changes, please be sure to enrol with your current e-mail address and mobile phone number.

Operational Conditions and Postponements

  • Macquarie Community College reserves the right to alter or postpone the bushwalk/s or part thereof due to extremes of weather or changes to operational conditions such as road closures, bushfires or conditions beyond our usual control. Every effort will be made to keep to the itinerary and advertised departure times, but no guarantee can be made and no compensation shall be made for failure to meet those times.
  • Our bushwalks take place in all but exceptional weather conditions. Conditions such as mist, fog showers, rain and windy conditions do not usually affect the event operation. However, if the weather is deemed to be extreme, the event/s will be postponed to another date. Pre-paid event fees will be credited to the new date or a future event.

Prerequisite

The College conducts a wide range of bushwalks for people who have little or no bushwalking experience right through to the experienced bushwalker.

For many of our walks, no previous experience in bushwalking is necessary. Each walking trail is generally suitable for most fitness levels. If you have any questions, please contact us on 1300 845 888.
