Scottish Country Dancing - Sydney Course

Scottish Country Dancing is the ballroom dancing of Scotland. It’s lively, it’s sociable, and it is both mentally and physically challenging! In this introductory course, you will learn the steps and formations that form the building blocks of Scottish Country Dancing. Singles or couples welcome.

Course Outline

Dance steps, which are used in some of the most popular dances of Scotland, include:

  • Skip change
  • Slip step
  • Pas de basque

Topics include:

  • Develop fitness and balance
  • Learn a variety of different steps and dance formations that form the building blocks of Scottish Country Dancing
  • Learn how to dance in time to the music
  • Practise easy dances

Course Outcome

  • Students will learn the basics of Scottish Country Dancing so that they can join regular classes at one of the many clubs in Sydney, nationally and around the world.

Prerequisite: Desirable

* A reasonable level of physical fitness is required – as this course will give you a healthy workout.
  • This course is for beginners. No previous dance experience is requuired.
  • Suitable for singles or couples. 10% discount for couples.

Delivery Mode

  • This class is held in a large hall, with practical and tutor demonstrations. Group dances arranged for practice.
