Discover the power of Windows 10 with this introductory workshop!

Windows 10 is the latest operating system released by Microsoft that some people may be using on their computer, laptop, tablet or phone.

We will look into the new features available in Windows 10, how you can use it in your everyday life as well as some of the disadvantages.

By the end of the course, you will be familiar with using and navigating Windows 10, know four different ways of finding and starting a program, know what is new in Windows 10, what is of value to you and more!

What’s new in Windows 10?

  • Touch screen ability – what happened to Window phones?
  • A new start button – who cares?
  • Live tiles – those squares on the right
  • A new web browser – now this is something to get excited about – Edge
  • Talk to Windows 10 with Cortana
  • Microsoft wakes up to cloud computing with OneDrive

What are the disadvantages of Windows 10?

Course outcome

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Identify which Windows operating system they are running
  • Know four different ways of finding and starting a program
  • Know what is new in Windows 10 and what is of value to you
  • Argue the good and bad points of Windows 10

Entry requirements

This level is for the complete beginner and assumes no prior knowledge.

Prerequisite: Essential

Participants must be over 60 years old. Tech Savvy Seniors is an initiative of the NSW Ageing Strategy and is funded in partnership between the NSW Government and Telstra.

Please bring:
  • Notepad and Pen

A computer with access to Windows 10 is provided. However, you can also bring your own Windows device too.

How to Enrol

Step 1

Anyone 18 years or older may enrol into our non-accredited short courses by: • choosing the course you are interested in and; • finding a day and time that is suitable.

Step 2

After selecting your course and class. click ‘’Enrol Now’’ and enter your details. • You will be asked to verify your email through a secure link sent to your email address. • Once you have returned to the enrolment page you will proceed through the secure checkout and payment process. • Alternatively, you can call customer service on 1300 845 888. Step 3

Once your enrolment has been processed, you will receive the following emails: • Enrolment confirmation: you will receive this immediately after your enrolment has been processed. Please check and read your Terms and conditions. • Tax invoice: the payer of your enrolment will receive this immediately after your enrolment has been processed. • Course reminder: you will receive a reminder the day prior to your class commencement. • Zoom link (for remote zoom classes only): you will receive a Zoom link and password the day prior to class commencement. If your course has multiple sessions, use the same link and password to access each session.
