Tech Savvy Seniors – Introduction to Blogging: Part 1 – Sydney Course

A blog is a website that you create yourself, or your own personal journal. Maybe you’ve heard about blogging but don’t know what it means, but are curious to find out. Or maybe you have something you would like to share with people. Or maybe you are just curious.

Course Outline

In this workshop, you will learn the basics of blogging:

  • You will learn what blogging is
  • You will create a simple blog and publish a blog entry.

Course Outcome

After this workshop, you will understand the benefits of blogging. You will learn:

  • What is a blog
  • How blogging is different to FaceBook or other online publishing
  • What software is needed in blogging
  • How to create a simple blog and publish blog entries
  • How to notify people that a new blog entry is available for reading
  • We will review some good blog sites and consider what made them good
  • We will also consider the privacy and security considerations of blogging

What to Bring

  • An internet-connected computer, either your own or supplied by the workshop organisers. You may need to share a computer with others in the workshop.

Prerequisite: Desirable

  • No previous knowledge required.
